Karyn Tomczak

KarynVicki Jiles Flanagan Distinguished Chair in Dance

After an extensive nationwide search Ms. Tomczak was chosen to hold the CSU Distinguished Faculty Chair in Dance. With a Master's Degree in Dance Education from Skidmore College in New York and recently serving for 6 years as Director of Dance at Western Carolina University, as well as a very strong professional performance background, Karyn was the outstanding choice to nurture our new dance program. For over 15 years she performed on Broadway, all across the U.S. and internationally in many shows including 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Will Rogers Follies, Sugar Babies, and others. She performed as a Radio City Rockette for over 6 years and her choreographic credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, Little Shop of Horrors, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, just to name a few.

Karyn was awarded Dance Teacher Magazine's 2014 Dance Teacher Award in Higher Education for her outstanding achievements for the advancement of the dance curriculum at Western Carolina. She is also an ABT® Certified Teacher.

The CSU Dance Program is proud to welcome this professional dancer, choreographer, and educator to our faculty to solidify our pursuit to provide top quality dance excellence to our region.
